IRA

"Pink Mindset and Lemon Ears" is a sculptural dialogue between Bulgarian artist Lora Nestorova and Ecuadorian artist José Cobos. Using a contemporary adaptation of the Surrealist “cadavre exquis,” each sculpture is built “blind” in three sections—head, torso, and legs—with each artist responding only to the cues left by the other at the joints. IRA is the anatomy of anger. • Head (Lora): Draws from contemporary digital culture, specifically the exaggerated “angry face” meme from SpongeBob SquarePants, capturing the absurdity and intensity of sudden rage. • Torso (José): A woman in a confrontational stance, her hand transformed into a large, accusing finger. Hidden behind her, the other hand takes the form of a Doberman’s head—a metaphor for how hands become weapons during a conflict, the pent-up aggression and impatience that accumulate as an argument escalates. • Legs (Lora): Set in a tense, aggressive stance, captured mid-motion as she stomps on the floor, ready for a physical or emotional fight.
