Phase I — The Rhythm of Existence

Pulse, gait, and breath as the engines of life. The first phase of the JCU residency translated the heartbeat, the lungs, and the rhythm of walking into triple globular flutes and tongue drums.
The direction of the heart is the direction in which our feet walk. Heart Steps and Aire y Latido were the first translations of the anatomical theme into the work: small gnome-like beings carrying the cadence born from each breath.
Drum Bell Head closed this phase: the tongue drum as a mind-clearing mechanism, resonating with the rhythmic firing of our neural networks.
